Sara

Sara is an extremely talented and creative individual. She is a pleasure to work with and  brought great ideas to both of her shoots. She takes direction well and is very easy to get along with. She is also quite petite, which makes Rich's job all the easier.

1.      Which project did you do with Rich and Dan?

I worked on the Harlequin project and the “Into The Looking Glass” series.

2.      What was your first impression saw/thought about being painted?

I was very excited to try being painted. As a model I am always trying to find new ideas and exciting projects to be involved in.  My worst nightmare is to be one of those models who always does the same old thing. But I was extremely picky about who I worked with.  There are so many people out there who claim to be professional painters, you have to be careful!

3.      What did you think of the images you received?

The images I received were beautiful and of very high quality. I receive images in a large enough file size that I could print 8x10s on my photo printer. They turned out great and added a LOT of diversity to my portfolio.

4.      How long did it take to get painted? To shoot?

Lets see, the first shoot which was Harlequin, took about 4-5 hours I think.  Since I had to be back home soon after that we only had about 20 or 30 minutes to shoot!!

The second shoot, “Into the Looking Glass” was a little bit different since we did all of the characters in one day.  I think the longest character was the caterpillar and that only took about 30 minutes!  We had about 30 or 40 minutes of shooting time for each character.  I made sure I didn’t have to be home at any certain time for the second shoot, so we were able to take our time, and have more fun with it.

5.      What was the best part of getting painted?

The best part about getting painted was the experience itself.  I am a pretty open minded person and love when I can experience something different and positive.  The atmosphere was really great, very relaxed but also extremely professional.

6.      What was the worst part?

I think the toughest thing about it was the standing.  During the first project,.. I couldn’t sit down at all while I was being painted. But, it wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle. I moved around every so often when I felt stiff, and Rich was very understanding about it too.

7.      Would you do it again? If so, what would you want to try?

I would love to do it again!! I wouldn’t really care what we did as long as it was wild and something different. I like to be different.

8.      How did Dan and Rich treat you?

Dan and Rich were both extremely professional.  The first session Rich had actually started painting me when Dan showed up.. so we met while I was nude.  The funny thing about it was that Dan didn’t even seem to notice that I was standing there butt naked LOL.  They were both always very concerned if I was warm enough, and brought a heater to point at me while I was being painted. Even though they were both burning up hot at times because of the heater, they never complained. They were more concerned with making sure I was comfortable.

They also made sure I got something to eat if I was hungry and that I felt ok to tell them when I wanted a break.  Rich even started the shower for me when I needed to wash the paint off.  It was also great to meet Rich’s wife who also made me feel very welcome. It was nice to have a girl around during the process.

9.      What did the process feel like?

The sponge painted part is comfortable and goes pretty fast. The detail paint with the brush is very tickly. The paint is very cold when it goes on. It feels like short or long bursts of cold air on your body.  Sometimes it tickles a lot depending on where the paint gun is pointed.. he he

10. Did you still feel nude when the paint job was finished?

Well being nude before I was painted didn’t really bother me.. sometimes I think I should have been a nudist ha ha. After I was painted I really didn’t feel naked at all.  Every part of my body was so covered and disguised that it felt like I had clothes on.

11. Have you gotten any feedback from others, on your bodypaint photos? What were the reactions?

The reactions from people have all been positive.  I think the most meaningful reactions are from my peers because they are in the business too.  All of the reactions were amazement about how my body was turned into a painted work of art.  Everyone loved the characters I transformed into.  The most common question was “how long did it take?”  We even got some of our Harlequin series showcased on a modeling website.  Some of the model’s that saw our pictures contacted Rich and Dan right away because they wanted to get painted too.

12. What did you think of Rich and his work?

Rich was a perfectionist, which made me very happy!  The reason is because I am a perfectionist about my work as well, so I felt like Rich was not going to do a shabby job.  He took his time, and paid very close attention to detail. He even helped me paint my toenails red because we were afraid they might show in the pictures!! He was extremely fun to be around and very concerned with my comfort level.  The best part was the he let me listen to Weird Al while we worked ha ha ha ha

It was great to work with someone my own age, that hasn’t happened very often, but still Rich never got creepy.  He didn’t even seem to notice I was nude, instead he was just very concentrated on his work.  He had a way of making me feel at ease. His work is excellent. If you take a look at some of our images you will see the great amount of detail he put into his painting! I felt like a live art piece. It was great!

13. What did you think of Dan and his work?

I was extremely impressed with Dan’s photography skills!! I had done nude shoots before, but never a paint shoot. So this was a different experience for me.  Dan paid very close attention to lighting.. I mean he was setting up lighting for at least 30-45 minutes.  If you have ever been to a photo shoot, you know, the lighting is the most important part of it!! Without the right lighting the pictures come out looking crappy.  So it really put me at ease when I saw the close attention Dan paid to it.  Dan was very fun to be around, and we joked around and hung out during breaks and during the painting process.

I was very impressed with the level of professionalism that Dan had.  He helped pose me, which helped me a lot since this was a new thing for me. He was very patient with me and never raised his voice or acted like a jerk.  This is VERY important. There are so many photo guys that are assholes to work with. It was so nice to be able to work with someone that was relaxed.  Dan was a perfectionist and paid very close attention to detail. I really like that quality.  You can see the results in our work!

14. Would you recommend Second Skin Images to other models?

I would definitely recommend Second Skin Images to any model, or even just anyone who wanted to try something new! The guys are great to work with, very polite and respectful. Above all Second Skin Images is one of the most professional experiences I have had.

15. Any other comments?

I encourage anyone considering working with Rich and Dan to email me with any questions you may have.
